Nokia has announced the other days their first 1 GHz Symbian smartphone. It surprises me a little that the name does not have any letters like E for business line, N for multimedia or C for their low cost devices. The technical specifications are not to be ignored but also are not to be considered as latest technology - which may have a good impact on price.
-- DISPLAY: 3.2 inches nHD capacitive touch, 640 x 360 pixels,16M colors
-- CPU: 1 GHz.
-- STORAGE: 2 GB for internal, microSD card slot up to 32GB.
-- CAMERA: 5MP.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, micro-USB port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS.
-- SENSORS: Accelerometer, Proximity, Digital Compass.
-- BATTERY: up to 500 hours of standby.
-- OS: Symbian Anna.
-- APPLICATIONS: OVI maps, OVI store, social networking, Here abd Bow, Gig Finder.
However Nokia specifies that 500 is an entry level smartphone (so we may categorize it under the C letter) which is not sacrificing the quality. There are not many more things to say about it except that comes with exchangeable back covers (two extra are included in the package) and should be available this year in Q3.
