Evolio Neura

Evolio - a Romanian telecom and GPS devices producer - has announced a new tablet which appears to be a main competitor for the iPad 2 on the local market. The most important technical specifications are:

-- DISPLAY:  TFT capacitive, multi-touch screen, WXGA 1280 x 800 pixels, 9.7  inches.
-- CPU:  nVidia Tegra 2 1 GHz dual-core processor.
-- MEMORY:  1 GB DDR2 RAM
-- STORAGE:  16 GB SSD flash for internal, microSD card slot up to 32GB.
-- CAMERA:  Primary - front 1.3 MP.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G HSPA+ and/or Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0, A-GPS, 3.5 mm headphone jack, LAN, HDMI.
-- SENSORS:  Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Compass, Proximity.
-- BATTERY:  unknown.
-- OS:  Android Froyo 2.2 upgradable to Honeycomb 3.0, Adobe Flash.
-- APPLICATIONS:  Google Apps, Social apps.

It`s clear that this has the latest hardware for Android Honeycomb so I do not understand why is not shipping with this OS version. The great thing about this tablet is the fact that has all connectivity options in the world including a LAN port - I have not seen this so far on a tablet.
As the Evolio mentions this should be an iPad 2 killer. I am not sure about that but I am proud that is made in Romania, is looking nice and has a good price - about 500 USD for the Wi-Fi version (iPad 2 in Romania is starting from about 700 USD) and about 600 with 3G included.

Evolio EvoTab

Televoice has announced Today the ultra portable Evolio EvoTab tablet. This has a 7 inches RTS touch screen, weights only 360 g and is only 11 mm thin. The battery is a 4500 mAh Li-Ion which gives up to 14 hours of stand-by performance.
Talking about hardware performance the EvoTab comes with 800 MHz ARM 11 processor, with 256 MB DDR2 RAM memory and with 4GB flash drive. The storage can be extended through the MicroSD card with up to 32 GB. Connectivity is also there with Wi-Fi and 3G - but for the 3G network an external modem is required. In terms of software, Android Eclair (2.1) is running and of course many application can be installed like Skype, MSN. Youtube, Facebook, email and others. EvoTab is a HD video playback capable and looks like is the lightest and thinest tablet on market. What is new is the trackball somewhere at the bottom for a better internet navigation they say.
I know this is not much but also does not cost much - only about 230 - 240 USD ( 175 EUR). Although this is a low-cost tablet I believe they could have done a better job with the 3G network integration. Also this is a main competitor for another local brand - the Allview Alldro. Oh, and this is made in Romania!
