HTC Sensation XL
HTC have announced about a week ago in London their latest Android with Beats Audio technology smartphone. This is a big one and has about the same technical details as the Windows Phone 7 Titan.
Most important technical details of Sensation XL are:
-- DISPLAY: 4.7-inch Super-LCD capacitive touch 480 x 800 pixels screen, gorilla glass.
-- CPU: Qualcomm Scorpion 1.5 GHz processor.
-- GPU: Adreno 205
-- MEMORY: 768 MB RAM.
-- STORAGE: 16GB for internal.
-- CAMERA: Primary - 8MP led flash camera, video recording up to 720p, F2.2 lens, BSI sensor.
Secondary - 1.3 MP, video chat, video calling.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, micro-USB port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS, DLNA.
-- SENSORS: Proximity, Ambient Light Sensor, G-Sensor, Digital Compass.
-- BATTERY: Li-Po 1600 mAh
-- MULTIMEDIA: touch sensitive buttons, SRS virtual surround sound, 5.1 surround sound for video.
-- OS: Android 2.3 Gingerbread, HTC Sense 3.5.
-- APPLICATIONS: Google Apps, social networking, HTC Locations, HTC Watch.
This smartphone will arrive with high quality Beats Audio Solo headphones for a great sound. I like that this is the first Android phone from HTC with large internal storage memory but I do not like that there is no support for any micro-SD card. It`s like there is always something missing regarding the internal memory with HTC devices.
On the other side this is a huge phone with metallic cover and gorilla glass screen. The resolution is not the best one for it`s display even if there is a 199 pixels per inch density in my opinion. We will see how will be received by the customers in November.

HTC Rhyme
HTC has announced Today in New York an Android smartphone designed and created for ladies. The phone is a middle range one with unibody stylish and elegant design. The truly new things are the accessories which will be included in the package for USA which are a docking station, a 'sports armband', a Bluetooth headset and a 'Charm cable'. The charm cable has a small cube which will light up for any incoming calls or messages and of course will be noticed by ladies. So this means that men will no longer wait forever for a lady to answer a call :).
Most important specifications are:
-- DISPLAY: 3.7-inch Super-LCD capacitive touch 480 x 800 pixels screen
-- CPU: Qualcomm Scorpion 1 GHz processor.
-- GPU: Adreno 205
-- MEMORY: 768 MB RAM.
-- STORAGE: 1GB for internal, microSD card slot up to 32GB.
-- CAMERA: Primary - 5MP led flash camera, video recording up to 720p.
Secondary - VGA, video chat, video calling.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, micro-USB, 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS.
-- SENSORS: Proximity, Ambient Light Sensor, G-Sensor, Digital Compass.
-- BATTERY: Li-Po 1600 mAh
-- MULTIMEDIA: touch sensitive buttons.
-- OS: Android 2.3 Gingerbread, HTC Sense 3.5 UI, Adobe Flash 10.2 support.
-- APPLICATIONS: Google Apps, social networking, HTC Watch.
The Rhyme will be available at the end of September in USA and at the beginning of October in Europe and Asia. The new Sense interface offers a new modern menu access design.

HTC Sensation XE
HTC has announced this week their first Beats Audio technology smartphone. This is an upgrade made to the Sensation with a faster processor and an improved battery life. Also it will arrive with a Beats headset, their value being somewhere at 100 USD. Most important technical details are:
-- DISPLAY: 4.3-inch Super-LCD capacitive touch QHD 960 x 540 pixels screen
-- CPU: Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.5 GHz processor.
-- MEMORY: 768 MB RAM.
-- STORAGE: 1GB for internal, microSD card slot up to 32GB.
-- CAMERA: Primary - 8MP dual-led flash camera, video recording up to 1080 (MPEG-4/H.264).
Secondary - VGA, video chat, video calling.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G/4G WiMax, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, MHL port (micro-USB & HDMI), 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS.
-- SENSORS: Accelerometer, Proximity, Ambient Light Sensor, Gyro Sensor, G-Sensor, Digital Compass.
-- BATTERY: Li-Po 1730 mAh
-- MULTIMEDIA: touch sensitive buttons, SRS virtual surround sound, Beats Audio.
-- OS: Android 2.3 Gingerbread, HTC Sense 3.0 UI, Adobe Flash 10.2 support.

The price will rise a little due to the Beats headset but the good news is that Sensation XE will be in stores at the end of this month. I am already thinking in buying it but I will decide after I see the phone in reality.

HTC Titan
On September 1st HTC have announced another Windows Phone 7.5 Mango phone under the name Titan. Now this has a huge 4.7 inches display which makes me wonder how many customers will buy it. I remember the 5 inches Dell Streak which did not have too much success as was too big for a smartphone and too large for a tablet. We all know this is not a Dell and is a HTC but the screen size may have the same negative effects. The most important technical details are:
-- DISPLAY: 4.7-inch Super-LCD capacitive touch 480 x 800 pixels screen
-- CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.5 GHz processor.
-- GPU: Adreno 205
-- MEMORY: 512 MB RAM.
-- STORAGE: 16GB for internal, microSD card slot up to 32GB.
-- CAMERA: Primary - 8MP led flash camera, video recording up to 720p, F2.2 lens, BSI sensor.
Secondary - 1.5 MP, video chat, video calling.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, micro-USB port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS.
-- SENSORS: Proximity, Ambient Light Sensor, G-Sensor, Digital Compass.
-- BATTERY: Li-Po 1600 mAh
-- MULTIMEDIA: touch sensitive buttons, SRS virtual surround sound, 5.1 surround sound for video.
-- OS: Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
-- APPLICATIONS: Windows Apps, social networking, HTC Watch, PeopleHUB, Zune, XBOX Live.
But it`s not just the screen size, the resolution is not a proper one for a 4.7 inches. Main advantages I can see are typing easily messages, emails or creating Microsoft Office documents with an ergonomic keyboard and viewing movies in high quality. The processor is a faster one and cameras are better too. Other than that this is about the same phone with the Radar. Despite the screen the smartphone looks great as all devices from HTC do.

HTC Radar
HTC have announced yesterday in London two new Windows Phone Mango smartphones. In this article I will talk about the middle range one - HTC Radar. This is an elegant uni-body aluminium device with multimedia options and 3.8 inches screen. The complete technical specifications are:
-- DISPLAY: 3.8-inch Super-LCD capacitive touch 480 x 800 pixels screen
-- CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 GHz processor.
-- GPU: Adreno 205
-- MEMORY: 512 MB RAM.
-- STORAGE: 8GB for internal, microSD card slot up to 32GB.
-- CAMERA: Primary - 5MP led flash camera, video recording up to 720p, F2.2 lens, BSI sensor.
Secondary - VGA, video chat, video calling.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, micro-USB port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS.
-- SENSORS: Proximity, Ambient Light Sensor, G-Sensor.
-- BATTERY: Li-Po 1520 mAh
-- MULTIMEDIA: touch sensitive buttons, SRS virtual surround sound, 5.1 surround sound for video.
-- OS: Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
-- APPLICATIONS: Windows Apps, social networking, HTC Watch, PeopleHUB, Zune, XBOX Live.
I like the Windows Phone, although not that much as Android, because it has the office suite included which is great for document editing. This phone has many related applications like Bing Maps, Zune music services or XBOX live for gaming. What I find important at Radar is the 5.1 surround sound and the dedicated camera button. By the way the camera has F2.2 lens for real life capture and BSI sensor which works great in case of locations with poor quality light. This phone looks so good that I wish it would had Android :). But it does not and will be available in stores starting with October

Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Mango
Today Microsoft have announced their new updates to the Windows Phone 7 and the new version was called Mango. As there were rumors a few days back, it appears that 500 new features have been implemented. Not all were made public at the press conference but we should see the rest in the next period.
First important updates are regarding the communications. The Mango has an organizer for social networking applications. User will be able to chat on Facebook, Windows Live Messenger and SMS in the same time or switch fast between these. Contacts can now be grouped into personalized live tiles; have Twitter, Linkedin feeds integrated. Also Facebook comes with check-in service and face detection software. There are good news for email too because you can link multiple accounts in a single Inbox now. Final communication update brings voice-to-text and text-to-voice capability for a hands free SMS or chat.
Next is the Applications approach with Windows Hub. Applications are grouped in one place and can be opened where and when are needed. To most expected feature is the multitasking witch has finally arrived on Mango. Now users can open several applications and can leave a few to run in background to save battery life and performance.
The internet navigation has been improved with Internet Explorer 9. And is the mobile version based on the PC version, but has full hardware acceleration and HTML 5 support. With the Local Scout option you can now receive search results based on current location with shopping and social activities recommendations. Bing is the default search engine for web and with Quick Cards you can have a relevant information summary of a product, place, movie or event.
At the end Microsoft have announced new hardware partners which will release new Windows phones. These are Acer, Fujitsu, ZTE and are added to the ones that are already have windows phones: Samsung, LG Mobile and HTC. Of course the new strategic partnership with Nokia was mentioned. I remember that HTC promoted Android and Android promoted HTC in the world about 2-3 years ago and this continues Today. I believe the same thing may happen with Nokia and Microsoft - it`s something like help me help you situation.
In the end, it appears to me that Windows Phone has now caught Android from behind and can have a fair battle now in the mobile OS market.

HTC Sensation
HTC has announced Today in London their latest device - the Sensation. This looks like a new replacement for Desire HD and may be the first model of a new Sensation family which may take-off the Desire generation this year. I believe is a EVO 3D international version but without the 3D features. The technical specifications are below:
-- DISPLAY: 4.3-inch Super-LCD capacitive touch QHD 960 x 540 pixels screen
-- CPU: Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2 GHz processor.
-- MEMORY: 768 MB RAM.
-- STORAGE: 1GB for internal, microSD card slot up to 32GB.
-- CAMERA: Primary - 8MP dual-led flash camera, video recording up to 1080 (MPEG-4/H.264).
Secondary - VGA, video chat, video calling.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G/4G WiMax, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, MHL port (micro-USB & HDMI), 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS.
-- SENSORS: Accelerometer, Proximity, Ambient Light Sensor, Gyro Sensor, G-Sensor, Digital Compass.
-- BATTERY: Li-Po 1520 mAh
-- MULTIMEDIA: touch sensitive buttons, SRS virtual surround sound.
-- OS: Android 2.3 Gingerbread, HTC Sense 3.0 UI, Adobe Flash 10.2 support.
-- APPLICATIONS: Google Apps, social networking, HTC Watch.
The Sensation has a Gorilla Glass contoured screen which makes resistant to scratches and other damage. Just as the Flyer tablet this smartphone comes with HTC Watch for DVD quality movies purchasing and download. The new Sense features bring a new active lock-screen that will show live information from any of the applications available for customize (like weather). Also the new weather widget makes you feel like you are already outside and the 7-screens carousel has a 3D animation look. The same as Desire S, this phone has an aluminium unibody design which makes it thinner and lighter than the Desire HD.
I believe they could have done a better work for the battery life - like the EVO 3D which has a 1750 mAh capacity. Also I do not understand why HTC makes the Android premium smartphones with such small internal memory. This wonderful smartphone should be available sometime in May and I hope that will not have a high price.

HTC EVO 3D
Sprint has announced Today at the International CTIA Wireless event the new HTC EVO 3D. Now I can finally see HTC`s innovation at work after a series of devices lunched recently with the same technical specifications as about one year ago. This is a direct competitor for the LG Optimus 3D as you will see from the below details:
-- DISPLAY: 4.3-inch 3D LCD capacitive touch QHD 960 x 540 pixels screen
-- CPU: Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2 GHz processor.
-- MEMORY: 1GB RAM.
-- STORAGE: 4GB for internal, microSD card slot up to 32GB.
-- CAMERA: Primary - 5MP dual-lens camera for 3D photo taking, video recording, 2D (up to 1080 in 2D, up to 720p in 3D, MPEG-4/H.264) and 3D (up to 720p, H.264 SEI).
Secondary - 1.3 MP, video chat, video calling.
-- CONNECTIVITY: 3G/4G WiMax, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, MHL port (micro-USB & HDMI), 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS.
-- SENSORS: Accelerometer, Proximity
-- BATTERY: Li-Po 1730 mAh
-- MULTIMEDIA: touch sensitive buttons, dedicated camera key, 2D to 3D switch.
-- OS: Android 2.3 Gingerbread, HTC Sense 3.0 UI, Adobe Flash 10.2 support.
-- APPLICATIONS: Google Apps, social networking, YouTube 3D, Blockbuster On Demand.
The same as LG Optimus 3D, this device has a 3D glasses-free display. It is good to see a HTC model with 1GB of RAM, decent internal storage and with a processor which has a higher frequency than 1 GHz. It appears that this processor has asynchronous processing. This system makes each core to work independently and thus improving the battery life. The battery is a very strong one by the way, probably the largest one seen in a smartphone. There are no details for any graphic module but since this has the new Snapdragon generation inside I believe is a strong one. HTC Evo 3D arrives with some integrated applications from Sprint. One is the integrated Google Voice with Sprin`s services and the other is Blockbuster On Demand. This last one is an application which offers access to a more than 100,000 movies catalog.
In the end I can see a good news from HTC and I hope they will release an European version of this model.
